I belong from a Muslim family I’m the youngest
of two sisters and one brother and I believe that hijab is a personal choice it can not be oppressed or forced on somebody but instead it’s a choice that can be made to get closer to Allah SWT
No matter where you are in your hijab journey I hope that I can inspire you and encourage you through my experience InshaAllah you might be planing to wear the hijab one day down the line but not really sure when and you keep avoiding this thought away maybe you are a girl who can’t stop thinking about the advice of your creator but don’t really know how to start being more modest or maybe you already wear a hijab but you are struggling with self confidence are in need of more motivation to continue on
I have been the girl in all these scenarios and I have good advice to share I hope you can find hijab easier after reading this when I first decided to wear the hijab I dint really know how to start or from where to start as a kid I just saw hijab as an religious act but never really knew the meaning of it or why we wear it
I have always been a person who believes in living in the moment and appreciating the little things and have always made my decisions trusting Allah swt that he already has it all planned out for me
I’m not a perfectionist who pre plans there decisions or have there life all planned out. When the thought of hijab struck my mind I just couldn’t stop thinking about It
During my High school years I started getting closer to Allah SWT and started observing hijab and I started realising that this was an obligation that every Muslim woman needs to fulfil I had decided that I’m going to start hijab and I’m not going to wait anymore to please my creator and nothing can stop me from doing it
there was a time when I thought that hijab would take my beauty away according to the beauty standards of this society social media tries to construct this ideal image of what it means to be beautiful but then I started understanding that beauty should not be defined by the length of my hair my body or how clear my skin is like so many of you I’m so much more then my outer appearance and this fake beauty standards of this society dint stop me from making the best decision of my life to start wearing the hijab
To that girl who is reading this and has been struggling with the thought of hijab weather to live by the beauty standards of this society or to just do what our creator wants us to do
My advice to her is just go for it with a pure intention just to please Allah swt and to get closer to him and trust me it’s going to be an amazing journey InshaAllah
I started with small steps I couldn’t just wake up one morning throw on a hijab and just go to school if you can do that then you go girl but the high school Ayesha couldn’t just do that I have studied in a school where I had to wear a uniform but I also wanted to start wearing hijab But I still had a year to graduate from school I had decided I’m going to take it slow and officially start to wear my hijab after my graduation
this is just my personal experience I’m no professional this is just the way I started it and it helped me a lot and I had to figure out things by my own and it was quite a challenge for a 15 year old I just wish I had someone who could guide me through it but alhumdulliah I did find my way through it and would love to share my advice to all the girls out there who are trying to wear the hijab no matter what your age is it’s never too early or too late to start the hijab remember you are in the right time the right age the right situation you just need to go for it and there is a reward waiting for you from Allah SWT Here are a few steps and tips you can follow
Number 1
I would recommend you girls to set an intention stay still on it that no matter what the society tells don’t let the
“what if’s “come in your way
What if your friends don’t treat you the same way or what if they think that you are boring or too religious to hang out with keep all these thoughts aside and just keep this in your mind that the real once will always stay they will stay no matter what they wouldn’t turn there back at you and if they did then they are not worth of your time and relationship
Number 2
Tell the people around you your family your friends your close ones that you are willing to start hijab your family and friends your close once are the real support Once you have told the people around you then you will automatically start feeling that somehow you should become a hijabi cause you have already told people and there is no going back this will keep you motivated and firm on your decision and always remember why you are doing hijab in the first place
Number 3
Rearrange your Wardrobe usually when you have nothing modest to wear u get demotivated and start giving a second thought to your hijab
make sure you add more layers to your wardrobe like a few cute jackets or throw on coats and cardigan , pullovers have always been a lifesaver for me when You need to run errands and have to throw on something modest real quick you can just throw on a pullover and you are good to go
long sleeve inners really help in layering your sleeveless pretty dresses or tops
pre plan your outfits so that you stay motivated with the hijab . Get rid of clothes that are not modest or cannot be layered
Number 4
Give yourself a realistic time frame no matter if it’s a few months or years This will help you to stay focused and keep working towards your goal
Allah SWT knows your intentions and will reward you for your efforts you can take it slow start wearing your hijab at home to get use to it start trying new and different ways of tying your hijab wear your hijab to a public place where no one knows you so that you don’t get too many people looking at you this will make you more comfortable and confident and you start getting use to people accepting you in a hijab
Number 5
Start doing things for yourself do things that make you feel you be yourself
Start having your all girls party get dressed up do your hair and have fun with your girls as a hijabi you might start feeling left out when you see girls doing new hair trends curling there hair straightening it and when I started wearing the hijab I would totally forget about my hair it would always be in a bun and I had forgotten how to dress my hair like before but having an all girls and family only events where you can dress your hair will not make you feel left out and you will start feeling good about yourself and won’t have the feeling of being left out
Number 6
Remind yourself why are you wearing the hijab in the first place if you start having Trouble or any negativity with your self confidence remind yourself that why did u start the hijab in the first place knowing that you are fulfilling an obligation with Allah SWT and knowing that there is an immense reward in what you are doing always makes you feel stronger always know that wearing hijab will never make you suppressed wearing hijab declares that you are an obedient servant to Allah and you are free from any man made system we are not worried about how our bodies look to other people as we pass by because that is not whom we are trying to impress we are not worried if our way of life will fit into the society
Now that I feel more confident in the hijab I can describe to you the feeling I have when I wear it out in public it feels free the moment I walk into a room full of people I carry my hijab as my identity it speaks that I’m a Muslim woman and I don’t live by the beauty standards of this society
Know that wearing hijab will not stop you from doing anything you want to do in life remember anything you can do a hijab can do better
